Three to follow from the 2025 Aintree Grand National Meeting…
Willie Mullins…
Six in the 2025 Aintree Grand National…
Banged in the 1-2-3 as well as 5 of the first 7 home…
It’s just crazy what this man keeps doing!!
It’s like… ‘National Hunt racing? Yeah, completed it mate…‘
…and now he’s going back and doing all the side missions that are available… and there’s an indefinite amount of those… so he isn’t going away anytime soon!!
Just insane the levels Willie Mullins is operating at… crazy…
NICK ROCKETT winning the National was the cherry on top for team Mullins… and also a cracking earner for myself and NTF members… as NICK ROCKETT was one of only TWO horses in the race that passed all of my National Trends…
I was also delighted to receive emails/social media comments from those of you that used my National Trends (they were available in the FREE Aintree Guide I released) to pick out NICK ROCKETT for yourselves… lovely stuff 👍😎
A good few of you also made use of some of the Aintree angles and stats I posted on the blog and via the FREE NTF mailing list…
Top marks go to NTF follower Mike D (not Mike D from the Beastie Boys! 😆) who decided to back all the qualifiers to Betfair SP on the Willie Mullins angle I posted in one of my emails last week…
There were 8 qualifiers on the angle… 5 of them won… pulling in a level stakes profit of +£53.49…
Mike had a tenner on them all at BFSP… so he pulled in a tasty +£534.90 profit! (minus whatever commission level Mike has on Betfair)…
I think he spent a fair chunk of that +£534.90 at the pub on Saturday night… 😆
For anyone not on the Free NTF mailing list… the angle was…
Willie Mullins | Aintree Grand National Meeting | 4yo-9yo | 14 or less Career starts | WON 1 of last 4 starts | Previously won at Graded level
The 8 qualifiers last week pulled in a form line of… 151F11P1… improving the overall stats of the angle to…
(since 2014) 21/48 | 44% S/R | +£101.70 BFLSP – W&P 30/48 | 63% S/R
76% above exp
Superb…
Aintree is done and dusted for another year though… and I’ve now completed my in-depth post-meeting notes for the 3-days of Aintree 2025, with NTF members receiving those notes this morning… and as I always do I’ve cherry picked a horse to follow from each day of the meeting for this post… horses that have been taken from those members notes… notes that you can also get your hands on…
Three to follow from the 2025 Aintree Grand National Meeting…
.
🟥⬜ PRIMOZ (L Russell)
7th in the Class 1 Red Rum Handicap Chase – Thursday 3rd
Like at Cheltenham last time out he was disadvantaged at the start and was just caught a little on his heels from the standing start… from there it was always just a bit of a losing battle to try and get the prominent racing position he likes in his races… he was also slightly hampered at the third fence and that pretty much ended any hopes he had of going close in this… he could yet prove up to landing a Class 1 Handicap but maybe he does just need a small drop into slightly calmer waters and it could be that his Prime Conditions are the following…
C2 level or less | NOT Very Undulating tracks = 13F1141 (4/7 – all 4 career wins)
.
🟩🟪 FIERCELY PROUD (B Pauling)
PU in the Class 2 Conditional & Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – Friday 4th
Now PU on his last 2 starts but they’ve both come on a Left-Handed track, and I think he’s a much better horse on a Right-Handed track…
RH form = 4/7, 1p | LH form = 1/7, 0p
…he’s also quite possibly not a fan of really big fields, with his form in fields of 15+ now reading… PP6700 (0/6, 0p)… and he’s better than what he’s shown on his last 2 starts…
…I still have a loose set of Prime Conditions for him as…
Listed level & below | fields of 14 or less = 1F1111 (5/6 – all 5 career wins)
…with it being a major positive if meeting a RH track under those conditions…
.
🟨🟦 HORACES PEARL (F O’Brien)
5th in the Grade 1 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle – Saturday 5th
Never looked all that happy from around the half-way stage of this and he possibly found this Grade 1 too hot for him… also worth noting that offspring of his sire – AUTHORIZED – regularly run poorly over the Aintree Hurdles, returning the following stats…
Authorized offspring | Aintree Hurdles = 2/47, 6p | 60% below expectation
…so maybe not a major surprise that he appeared to be struggling from early enough in this Grade 1…
Handicaps would be an interesting move for him as his mark of OR 135 shouldn’t be hard for him to overcome… and he may also appreciate going back right-handed as he seemed to take a few of these flights on the wrong leg (although going right-handed not a deal-breaker just yet)…
