2024 Glorious Goodwood Notes: NTF 5 to follow…

Glorious Goodwood firmly logged in the form book for another year…

Plenty of punting ups and downs over the five-days… and plenty more close calls/hard luck stories… which is generally what you come to expect from the Glorious meeting!

Enjoyable all the same… plenty of large fields to tuck into and when you get one of those right (or even a fifth right and land in the places) then chances are you’ll be well rewarded…

Glorious Goodwood is also a great meeting to pick apart, once the dust has settled, and look for future profits…

I’ve just posted my ‘Glorious Goodwood Wrap‘ to full NTF members…

11-pages rammed full of notes, angles, pointers and prime condition horses for members to profit from in the coming weeks and months…

Below are five horses from that chunky set of notes… five horses that will hopefully pull in some tasty profits before this flat season is out…

Glorious Goodwood 2024: NTF Five to follow

📅 Tuesday 30th July

1.50 Chesterfield Cup Handicap – Class 2 – 1m2f (4yo+)

🏇 7thKILLYBEGS WARRIOR

He doesn’t seem to be a big fan of Undulating/Very Undulating tracks (now 0/5, 1p on such tracks) so this was a decent enough effort, beaten only 3.4L come the line… the handicapper has been chunking him down the ratings recently as he ran here off 9lbs lower than his peak rating and he’s becoming a seriously well-handicapped sort (went down another 2lbs to OR 95 for this)… he’s currently in his Prime Months period (June-Aug) and he’s worth looking out for under the following… C2 or less | June-Aug | Good or quicker | Flat-Slightly Undulating tracks = 41131 (3/5 – all 3 career wins)… he’s an unbeaten 3 from 3 on the Newmarket July course although I don’t think he needs to be running there, for all it would certainly be a positive…

📅 Wednesday 31st July

3.35 Sussex Stakes – Group 1 – 1m (3yo+)

🏇 5thSONNY LISTON

Was travelling and moving very smoothly for a long time in this Group 1 and he was still bang there at the furlong pole… he had no answer, however, when thing got serious inside the final furlong and he realistically needs a bigger field than this 5-runner affair to pull him into the race for longer… if you look at him in fields of 10+ over 7f-1m he is… 216245291 (2/9, 4p – both career wins)… the 6th came in a 20-runner field and the 5th also came in a 20-runner field… and if they can find a G1 or a G2 with decent numbers then he could very well run himself into the places in such races, likely at decent odds as well…

📅 Thursday 1st August

4.45 Buccellati Handicap – Class 3 Handicap – 5f (3yo)

Race Note: The bottom half of the draw is where all the action took place in this one, with the first FIVE home all drawn in the bottom half of the draw, indeed the bottom THIRD of the draw supplied the first 4 home… so a definite positive to be drawn in the bottom third and a negative to be drawn in the top half…

🏇 5thCHIEF MANKATO

The first home of those drawn in the top-half (he was drawn in stall 14) and he simply didn’t have the right pace happening in front of him to get seriously involved… he’s been disadvantaged by his draw on both of his last two starts and neither of those runs are a true reflection of his abilities… he’s much better judged on the form of his 4th at Newmarket in April on seasonal debut, with the form of that race working out strongly since and suggesting that his current mark of OR 82 (went down 2lbs from OR 84 for this run) is a mark he should be able to be winning off, once he gets a decent draw to attack from…

📅 Friday 2nd August

3.00 Golden Mile – Class 2 – 1m (3yo+)

Race Note: This has long been one of THE strongest draw bias races on the calendar, with the race regularly favouring the bottom half, if not the bottom quarter, of the draw… the last two years, however, have seen the winners break from the top quarter, indeed the 1st & 2nd here broke from the widest and second widest stalls, which was something that would have been hard to make a case for pre-race… it remains to be seen if something has happened to level the draw bias out a touch or if the last two renewals of this have simply been a bit of an anomaly…

🏇 5thBOPEDRO

A decent effort from the 8yo and he was dropped 1lb for the effort, which is handy as he was already on a winnable mark… 4 of his 6 wins have come in Aug-Sept and he’s worth looking out for in the coming weeks, especially if he gets his PC to run under… OR 98 or less | 7f-1m Hcps on a straight or RH track | Soft+ = 5011103111 (6/10, 2p – all 6 career wins)

📅 Saturday 3rd August

3.35 Stewards Cup – Class  2 Handicap – 6f (3yo+)

Race Note: A definite advantage to be drawn in the top quarter/top half of this field, with 4 of the first 5 home drawn in the top quarter and 6 of the first 7 drawn in the top half of the field…

🏇 8thRAMAZAN

A decent run from stall 13 as he was another that didn’t have much pace to pull him into things from down the middle… he was dropped 2lbs for this to OR 103, which puts him just 2lbs above the mark he was beaten a neck from in last season’s Ayr Gold Cup, and he’s worth looking out for under the following… Turf C2 or less | DSLR 42 or less | <1m = 821913211 (4/9, 3p – all 4 career wins)

Glorious Goodwood is always a superb meeting to pick apart and extract future winners from, hopefully those five above, that I pulled from the full set of comprehensive notes NTF members received, will find their way to the winners enclosure in coming weeks…
